Geothermal Project in Coney Island, NYC Tops Out - First of its Kind

LCOR has announced the topping out of 1515 Surf Avenue, a residential property in Coney Island, Brooklyn. The building will comprise 463 units, with 139 designated as affordable housing. It boasts the largest active geothermal system in New York City’s history – designed and installed by Ecosave USA – estimated to reduce carbon emissions by over 60%.

Designed by STUDIO V Architecture, 1515 Surf Avenue offers various amenities including an outdoor pool, fitness center and on-site parking. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2024.

This project marks NYC’s first multifamily geothermal development located within Coney Island – setting a new standard for sustainable living across the city!
