Georgetown University’s student residence at 55 H Street NW in Washington, D.C. has achieved LEED Platinum certification and has been recognized with multiple industry awards for its environmentally friendly and sustainable construction. The building was honored with the Best Use of Green & Sustainable Construction & Development award as well as the Best Architecture & Design award at the 13th Annual Innovator Awards by Student Housing Business. Additionally, it received a Silver Award for Best Development & Design in Student Housing from MHN Excellence Awards.
The design of this building was a collaboration between Elkus Manfredi Architects, RAMSA, and American Campus Communities. It boasts various community spaces such as study rooms, a library, and a game lounge on its premises. The top floor features an amenity penthouse that includes fitness facilities and multipurpose rooms for residents to enjoy. With elements like steel and glass screens along with an electric water vapor fireplace incorporated into its design,the building exudes modernity while also being eco-friendly.
Sustainability is at the core of this project’s development; it includes features such as rooftop solar panels,a green wall,and energy-saving measures to reduce environmental impact.The team behind this successful project consists of Georgetown University,American Campus Communities,RAMSA,and several engineeringand consulting firms who have contributed their expertise towards making it possible.
