Simon, the mall giant, has announced plans for a significant interior and exterior revitalization of the Houston Galleria. As Texas’ largest shopping center and one of the nation’s biggest, The Galleria boasts over 2.4 million square feet of retail space, dining options, and amenities.
The multimillion-dollar upgrades are set to begin this summer with an expected completion date in early 2025. Many entrances to The Galleria will be transformed into modern entryways as part of the revitalization project. Additionally, approximately 155,000 square feet of new flooring will be installed throughout the center.
This latest redevelopment follows a major renovation that was completed in 2017 at a cost of $30 million. During this project, extensive upgrades were made to The Galleria’s luxury wing which now houses top-tier retailers and features a newly renovated Saks Fifth Avenue spanning over 2000 square feet. According to Simon representatives,the company has invested several hundred million dollars in upgrades since opening its doors back in1970.
Inspired by Milan’s famousGalleria Vittorio Emanuele II,the Houston location features more than400 stores,a varietyofdining options ranging from fine diningto fast casual,and two high-rise Westin hotels along with three office towers.The post announcingthe upcoming facelift did not mention any specific names or brands but stated that it is expectedto bring even more excitementand vitalitytothis iconic destination.
