Foxconn Investing $220 Million in Houston Factory Revamp
Technology manufacturing giant Foxconn is set to invest $220 million to overhaul its production line at 8228 Houston Avenue. According to the Houston Business Journal, the development will span 454,979 square feet. The first floor will house a 345,427-square-foot manufacturing, assembly, and production storage facility. The second floor, covering 119,552 square feet, will include business offices, restrooms, locker rooms, and a lounge area.
Kirksey Architecture, a Houston-based firm, is listed as the project’s design firm.
Foxconn has leased the space at 8228 Houston Avenue, located in the Innerbelt Northwest Logistics Park, under a 122-month lease agreement totaling $39.2 million. The company is also the tenant of a second facility, referred to as “Factory Two,” at 8118 Houston Avenue. This location falls under a 124-month lease valued at $17.3 million.
Major tech companies Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Nvidia Corp. (Nasdaq: NVDA) have both announced plans to open significant facilities in Houston next year. Both companies are partnering with Foxconn on the upcoming projects.
