**Fort Worth Plans $606 Million Convention Center Expansion**
Fort Worth has announced a major expansion of its convention center, unveiling plans for a $606 million, four-story addition that will replace the venue’s aging arena. Demolition of the existing structure is scheduled to begin in early 2027.
The expansion will add 359,174 square feet of rentable space to the center, including a 74,000-square-foot exhibit hall, 37,000 square feet of new meeting rooms, and three additional loading docks—bringing the total number of docks to 16.
This project will be the convention center’s first significant renovation since 2003. City officials cite research indicating that the improvements could nearly double Fort Worth’s meetings and events business by making the facility more competitive with venues in other cities.
To fund much of the construction, the city plans to sell municipal bonds in September. Officials have also noted that naming rights may be offered to help offset costs.
The project is expected to be completed by late 2029.
