**Forsyth County Advances NHL Arena Plan with Ambitious $3B Development**

Forsyth County, Georgia, is taking significant steps to bring a professional hockey team to the region. The county government is moving forward with plans to develop approximately 100 acres along Georgia 400 near the Fulton County line, with the centerpiece being a proposed 18,500-seat arena.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that Forsyth County plans to issue a $250 million bond to help finance its $350 million commitment to the arena project. However, this financing hinges on National Hockey League approval for a team to play in the Atlanta suburb.

Spearheading the effort is local auto dealership magnate Vernon Krause. The plan, dubbed the **Gathering at South Forsyth**, is more than just a sports facility—it’s part of a broader mixed-use development that could ultimately cost around $3 billion.

When fully completed, the Gathering at South Forsyth is expected to include:

– 1,800 multi-family residential units and 150 single-family homes
– Two hotels offering a combined 500 rooms
– 1.6 million square feet of office and retail space
– A 15,000-square-foot public safety building for fire and sheriff departments
– An off-site practice ice rink

The development represents a bold effort to boost economic development and entertainment options in the area, positioning Forsyth County as a potential new home for NHL action in the Southeastern U.S.
