Former Westshore Plaza Redevelopment: Plans for Revitalization

CBRE is providing guidance on the sale of Westshore 54, a 53.3-acre property located at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Interstate 275 in Tampa’s Westshore district.

The current site houses Westshore Plaza, a mall spanning over 1 million square feet. The property is now available for purchase and will undergo redevelopment under Washington Prime Group (WPG), which has secured entitlements for over 8.1 million square feet of development potential at Westshore 54. The proposed redevelopment plan includes office space, a medical center, retail shops and restaurants, a hotel, and residential units.

In early January of this year, WPG received final approval from the Tampa City Council for its plans to redevelop the site. In October of last year,WPG acquired Macy’s Inc.’s department store real estate as part of its plans for redevelopment; Macy’s announced that it would be closing its Tampa location along with several others nationwide in early January.Dick’s Sporting Goods also vacated their anchor box at Westshore Plaza in October to relocate to an innovative new concept store at International Plaza.
