### Plano’s Shops at Willow Bend to Undergo Major Redevelopment

Like many malls across the country, the Shops at Willow Bend had become obsolete. Now, the Plano City Council has approved Centennial, the mall’s new owner, to begin demolition and transform the space into a mixed-use development that extends beyond traditional retail. The redevelopment will include apartments, townhomes, retail spaces, a hotel, office space, and restaurants.

Centennial plans to rename the site **The Bend** and will incorporate approximately 800,000 square feet of retail, dining, and entertainment space. The project will also feature up to 965 residential units, a high-rise hotel, and a seven-story office building.

Despite previous owners investing hundreds of millions of dollars, the mall struggled to attract enough shoppers and retailers. According to reports, if financing is secured, demolition could begin later this year. The entire redevelopment process is expected to take three years, with completion anticipated by 2028.
