### Plano’s Willow Bend Mall to Undergo Major Transformation

Like many malls across the country, The Shops at Willow Bend had become obsolete. Now, the Plano City Council has approved a significant redevelopment plan allowing Centennial, the mall’s new owner, to begin demolition and revamp the space into a multi-use development.

The redevelopment, set to be renamed *The Bend*, will include more than just retail. Centennial plans to create a vibrant mixed-use destination featuring:

– **800,000 square feet** of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space
– **Up to 965 residential units**, including apartments and townhomes
– A **high-rise hotel**
– A **seven-story office building**

Despite previous owners investing hundreds of millions of dollars, The Shops at Willow Bend struggled to attract enough shoppers and retailers. If financing is secured, demolition could start later this year. The construction process is expected to span three years, with completion anticipated in 2028.
