**Five Below Expands into Washington State, Taking Over Former Party City Locations**
Discount retailer Five Below is making its debut in Washington State by taking over seven former Party City locations. According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, the Philadelphia-based chain will open four stores in the Seattle area and three additional locations in central and eastern Washington.
The new Puget Sound locations include:
– 31417 Pacific Hwy. S., Federal Way
– 10408 156th St. E., Puyallup
– 2617 196th SW St., Lynnwood
– 1402 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett
The additional Washington stores will be in Spokane Valley, Richland, and the Yakima/Union Gap area.
This expansion follows Party City’s closure of all its Washington locations in February after filing for bankruptcy earlier in the year. Prior to closing, Party City operated 10 stores in the Seattle area and 16 statewide.
At a bankruptcy auction, Five Below acquired 44 former Party City leases nationwide. While Five Below currently operates 1,800 stores across the U.S., this move marks its first foray into the Pacific Northwest, as well as into Alaska and Hawaii.
Other retailers, including Dollar Tree, are also expected to occupy former Party City locations in the Seattle area.
