"First Phase of $500M Factory in San Antonio Commences"

JCB, a renowned international manufacturer, has announced plans to invest $184 million in the first phase of its new factory located in south San Antonio. The company estimates that its total investment will exceed $500 million once the facility is fully built. Spanning 720,000 square feet on a 400-acre site, the factory is expected to commence production by early 2026.

To attract JCB’s business and boost economic growth in the area, San Antonio offered tax breaks worth $14 million while Bexar County approved an additional subsidy of $12 million. The new facility will specialize in manufacturing telescopic handlers and other lift equipment for customers specifically within North America.

JCB has been operating globally for over eight decades and currently employs approximately 19,000 people worldwide with factories located across various countries including eleven in UK, seven in India as well as others situated Brazil and China. In celebration of their upcoming milestone anniversary (80 years), JCB plans to mark this achievement during their expansion into North America with this state-of-the-art manufacturing plant set to join their existing US-based plant established back in Savannah Georgia since 2001 which currently employs around one thousand individuals.
