Finegold Alexander Architects Wins Two Preservation MA Awards

Finegold Alexander Architects has recently been honored with two prestigious awards from Preservation Massachusetts for their exceptional work in historic preservation. The projects recognized are the Lower Basin Barracks and The First Church of Christ, Scientist.

The Lower Basin Barracks, a 15,000-square-foot renovation project, showcases Finegold Alexander’s expertise in modernizing a deteriorating 1908 facility while preserving its historical elements. This includes the exterior masonry, original wood window frames, and iconic tower with copper bays – all updated to meet the current and future needs of the State Police.

In addition to this award-winning project is The First Church of Christ Scientist – an impressive landmark spanning over 192,000 square feet. Finegold Alexander worked alongside Simpson Gumpertz & Heger as well as Shawmut Design and Construction for an extensive restoration that lasted eight years. Notable features include Neoclassical and Romanesque Revival structures such as ornate domes and original Guastavino semi-domes.

With these recent accolades from Preservation Massachusetts under their belt,Finegold Alexander Architects continues to showcase their expertise in preserving historic buildings through meticulous attention to detail.
