The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) has secured both public and private funding for the redevelopment of a former hotel on Morrissey Boulevard in Boston. The project will transform the building into 99 new Section 8 studio apartments with supportive services provided by Pine Street Inn to assist individuals transitioning out of homelessness. These apartments will be affordable for those earning up to 30% of the area median income and will incorporate green and energy-efficient features.
In addition to creating much-needed housing, this project also includes plans for office and community spaces on the ground floor, while floors two through five will house the studio apartments converted from existing hotel rooms. TCB will manage the property, with onsite support services provided by Pine Street Inn for residents.
Funding for this development comes from various sources including: City of Boston, MassHousing, Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, Eastern Bank,CEDAC (Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation), as well as federal and state Low-Income Housing Tax Credits allocations.
