**Brownsville Arts Center & Apartments Secures $254M in Financing**

Gilbane Development, in collaboration with Blue Sea Development, Artspace, and the City and State of New York, has officially closed on $254 million in financing for the Brownsville Arts Center & Apartments (BACA). This milestone paves the way for a transformative project aimed at delivering affordable housing and cultural amenities to Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood.

Situated at 366 Rockaway Avenue, the development will feature approximately 263,000 square feet of residential space alongside a 28,000-square-foot cultural arts center. Once completed, BACA will provide 283 affordable rental apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom units.

“This project goes beyond housing—it’s a cultural and residential anchor that will uplift and inspire Brownsville for years to come,” said Yarojin Robinson, Senior Vice President of Affordable & Mixed-Income Housing at Gilbane Development. “We’re proud to partner with Blue Sea Development and Artspace to bring this vision to life, made possible in no small part thanks to the vital financial support from both the City and the State.”

The BACA initiative reflects a broader commitment to community development, merging housing with arts and culture to serve as a lasting resource for residents of Brownsville.
