BKV Group, a Minneapolis-based architecture firm, has recently completed the final phase of Upper Post Flats in St. Paul, Minnesota. This adaptive reuse project transformed 26 buildings at the historic Fort Snelling site into an affordable housing community for veterans and their families.
According to Mike Krych from BKV Group, this successful restoration showcases the potential of adaptive reuse and sustainable materials in creating much-needed affordable housing.
The project was designed by BKV Group for Dominium and offers a range of unit sizes from studios to four-bedroom apartments across its 42-acre site. The repurposed structures now feature modern amenities and floor plans ranging from 285 to 2,676 square feet. The property is open exclusively to military members, veterans, first responders and their families.
This latest development marks another milestone for BKV Group’s expertise in revitalizing historic landmarks into vibrant communities that serve diverse populations.
