"FC Dallas Seeking Public Funds for Stadium Development"

Some residents of Dallas are making it known that the Cowboys are not the only sports team in town. FC Dallas, a Major League Soccer team, is also looking for support from the community. The team has set its sights on hosting the MLS All-Star game and is seeking to improve its stadium.

According to an article by The Dallas Business Journal, FC Dallas has submitted a proposal to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation outlining their plans for $130 million in renovations at Toyota Stadium. These upgrades will include expanding premium areas such as clubs and suites by 130,000 square feet, as well as updating broadcast and press facilities to meet MLS standards.

In order to finance this project, FC Dallas may seek $198 million in public funding. A public hearing organized by Frisco Community Development Corp (CDC) will determine if bonds issued by CDC can be used for these improvements with repayment coming from sales tax revenue.
