Fannie Mae to Maintain Headquarters in Downtown DC

Fannie Mae has recently signed a new lease at Midtown Center in downtown D.C. for its headquarters. The company will occupy around 340,000 square feet of the 900,000 square foot office building owned by Carr Properties and IGIS Asset Management in a joint venture.

This decision comes after Fannie Mae had previously announced plans to leave their current headquarters at Midtown Center back in January. CEO Oliver Carr expressed his satisfaction with the continued partnership between Fannie Mae and Carr Properties during negotiations for the new lease.

The transaction was facilitated by Art Santry and Ned Goodwin from Cushman & Wakefield as well as Philip Horowitz and Jean Yin Crews from Venable, LLP on behalf of Fannie Mae. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Rausse (Senior Vice President of Leasing), Valerie Kelly (partner at Fried Frank), and real estate associate Cathy Bushong represented Carr Properties during the process.
