Fairstead, Project FIND and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development recently celebrated the opening of Park 79 – a 100% affordable senior housing development in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Fairstead served as property owner, property manager and general contractor for this hotel-to-housing conversion project on what was previously an illegal single-room occupancy (SRO) hotel.
Park 79 offers 77 units of housing to New Yorkers who may otherwise be priced out of the city. Through HPD’s Senior Affordable Rental Apartments (SARA) program, it provides homes for seniors earning at or below 50% area median income including those formerly homeless individuals.
Jeffrey Goldberg, CEO of Fairstead commented: “Park 79 will not only change lives but also demonstrates how thoughtful and intentional conversions can come to life.”
