**EYA Finalizes Land Purchase for Rockville Retail-to-Residential Redevelopment**
Washington, D.C.-based developer EYA has officially closed on the land formerly occupied by Rockshire Village Center in Rockville, Maryland. This milestone signals the start of a major redevelopment project that will convert the long-vacant shopping center into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood.
EYA plans to transform the 7.3-acre site, located in Montgomery County’s Wootton High School district, with a mixed-use development that blends new housing, retail, and public open space. The project aligns with EYA’s mission to bring “life within walking distance” by creating communities where residents can easily access amenities, green space, and services.
The new Rockshire community will feature 60 residential units, including 31 single-family detached homes and 29 townhomes. The redevelopment will also include approximately 5,200 square feet of commercial space, designed to attract retailers or office users and further enhance the neighborhood’s connectivity and offerings.
“Working closely with the city and community, we’ve taken an outdated commercial site and are transforming it into a vibrant, livable environment,” said Aakash Thakkar, Chief Acquisitions Officer at EYA.
The Rockshire project is one of several large-scale commercial-to-residential developments currently being pursued by EYA throughout the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region.
