"Exploring the Top Migration Hotspots: A White Paper"

According to Placer.ai, domestic migration levels have started to decline following the peak of the COVID-19 era. The analytics firm reports that some sources predict a record low for Americans moving within the country by 2023.

In their recent white paper titled “Migration Hotspots in a Cool 2024 Market,” Placer.ai uses location intelligence to analyze emerging trends in domestic migration during early 2024. The paper discusses which metro areas are still attracting new residents and what factors are drawing them there, as well as which metros are experiencing population outflows.

The top destination for inbound migration currently is Boulder, CO (pictured). However, popular COVID-era destinations like Idaho and Utah continue to see growth at a slower pace compared to before. On the other hand, states such as Wyoming and Texas that were previously relocation hotspots have seen negative net migration since February 2023.
