"Explore the Market for Bronzeville's Historic Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church"

The Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, a historic landmark in Bronzeville, is now available for purchase at $799,000 through Coldwell Banker Realty. This 26,000-square-foot property located at 4130 S. Indiana Avenue has been the subject of preservation efforts to prevent its potential demolition.

In need of significant repairs and currently boarded up, the church’s sale comes amidst ongoing attempts by church leaders and local organizations to have it designated as a landmark. Recently appearing before the Landmarks Commission for consideration, this building has welcomed prominent figures such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., former President Jimmy Carter and was founded by Reverend Louis Rawls – father of Grammy-winning singer Lou Rawls.

A dispute over control of the church persists between Eagle Ledge Foundation – a specialist in church loans that filed for bankruptcy in 2022 – and Chicago Title Land Trust.
