ArtBridge and The Durst Organization are presenting “A City in Motion,” an innovative public art exhibit and augmented reality (AR) experience by artist Zeehan Wazed. Located at 20 and 30 Halletts Point in Queens, the 600-foot-long exhibition decorates the construction fencing of a mixed-income housing project currently underway. The artwork incorporates silhouettes of dancers captured from dance classes at the Hanac Cornerstone Community Center, combining visual art with movement to create a unique experience.
The AR experience is accessible through Artvive app which brings this mural to life for viewers. This exhibit is part of NYC Department of Cultural Affairs’ City Canvas initiative and will be displayed throughout construction until around 2025. Artist Wazed expressed his enthusiasm for this work saying: “I grew up in Queens; my first exposure to visual art was seeing murals while carrying the 7 train – I’m thrilled to introduce this new work at Halletts Point.”
