Expansion Hollywood Burbank Airport Announces $1.2B Terminal Expansion Groundbreaking

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA) has recently commenced construction on a new passenger terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport. This state-of-the-art facility, named “Elevate BUR,” is a $1.2 billion project spanning 355,000 square feet and will replace the existing terminal to meet FAA standards and state building requirements while enhancing the overall passenger experience.

With an increase of nearly 50% in size compared to its predecessor, Elevate BUR will provide more distance between airport runways and the terminal building. It also incorporates updates that comply with current earthquake design regulations and ADA accessibility standards. The new terminal features a 45,900-square-foot aircraft parking area for boarding and deplaning as well as a modern parking structure equipped with EV charging stations and an on-airport access road.

Jacobs Project Management is overseeing this project’s management services for Elevate BUR while Holder-Pankow-TEC Joint Venture (HPTJV) leads the design-build process alongside Corgan providing architectural services in association with CannonDesign. Construction of this cutting-edge facility is scheduled from 2024 to 2026.

This groundbreaking development at Hollywood Burbank Airport marks another milestone towards elevating air travel experiences without compromising safety or convenience.
