"Expansion Project: Houston Hospital to Invest $247M"

Houston Methodist West Hospital is gearing up for a significant expansion project, with an estimated cost of $247 million. The project is set to begin this fall and is expected to be completed by 2027.

The expansion will include both hospital and community areas, with $185 million allocated for the hospital and $62 million for the community. This will result in over 129,000 square feet of new and renovated service areas.

Some key improvements that can be expected from this expansion are:

– An increase in total bed count from 271 to 307 through the addition of a new observation unit with 36 beds.
– Four more operating rooms.
– An additional sixteen emergency department rooms.
– Five new neonatal intensive care unit beds.
– A brand-new endoscopy suite.
Additionally, there will also be an infusion center featuring six extra suites as well as advanced imaging equipment such as one MRI machine, two CT scanners,and ultrasound technology.

Apart from expanding its main campus, Houston Methodist also plans on establishing a comprehensive care center in Fulshear. This facility will span across65 ,000 square feet adjacent to their existing emergency care center in Cinco Ranch.The comprehensive care center aims at providing various services including primary care,same-day clinic visits,laboratory services,and physical therapy.Additionally,itwill offer specialized treatmentsin orthopedics neurology,gastroenterology,urology,and rheumatology.This development showcases Houston Methodist’s commitment towards enhancing healthcare access within the region while cateringto diverse medical needs.
