"Exciting Future Ahead for E. Austin Heritage District"

Two mixed-use developments, featuring affordable housing and cultural spaces, are set to revitalize vacant city-owned lots in East Austin’s Cultural Heritage District. Blocks 16 and 18 on East 11th Street will be transformed by these proposals.

After careful consideration, city officials have chosen the Pleasant Hill Collaborative as the developer for this project. The collaborative is made up of national student housing developer Servitas, along with local builders Guadalupe Neighborhood Development Corp. and Topo.

The $112 million redevelopment plan includes neighborhood priorities such as:

-138 residences ranging from studio to three-bedroom apartments and townhomes in Block 16
-Most units reserved for tenants earning less than or equal to 50% of the local median income
-27,000 square feet of cultural venues including performance space and studios
-13,000 square feet of commercial space including a grocery store

Block 18 will feature four stories with eateries,a central public courtyard with a performance stage, and housing for Huston-Tillotson University students.
