Ethos Commercial Advisors, based in Portland, Oregon, has expanded its footprint in the Pacific Northwest with the opening of a new office in Bend, Oregon. The firm announced that Ryan Norwood, CFA, has joined as Managing Director and will lead the company’s efforts in this new market, with a focus on enhancing its capital markets capabilities across the region.
Norwood joins Ethos with two decades of experience in institutional investment and capital markets. His background includes a sustained focus on underwriting, capital structuring, and investment analysis, disciplines that are central to advising clients on complex capital stack decisions. Ethos notes that his institutional approach is intended to bolster the firm’s advisory services for clients seeking solutions across various layers of the capital structure.
Before joining Ethos Commercial Advisors, Norwood spent more than ten years at Northmarq Fund Management, which previously operated under the name Morrison Street Capital. During his tenure there, he served as a senior member of the investment team and was responsible for leading the firm’s capital raising initiatives. This role provided him with broad exposure to institutional investors and private capital sources, along with experience in designing and executing capital strategies at scale.
Norwood also previously led Lument’s debt capital markets desk. In that position, he gained extensive experience arranging and working with a range of capital providers, including agency lending platforms, debt funds, life insurance companies, and structured equity providers. This background aligns with Ethos Commercial Advisors’ emphasis on advising clients across multiple forms of debt and equity capital.
With the addition of the Bend office, Ethos Commercial Advisors now maintains offices in Portland, Dallas, and the Puget Sound region. The firm positions this growth as part of an effort to deepen its presence across the Pacific Northwest while maintaining coverage in other key markets. Norwood’s appointment as Managing Director for the Bend expansion is intended to bring additional institutional discipline to the firm’s capital markets platform and to support clients with increasingly sophisticated underwriting and structuring needs.
The expansion into Bend and the recruitment of a senior capital markets professional underscore Ethos Commercial Advisors’ focus on building out its advisory platform while remaining active in multiple geographies. By adding leadership with a background spanning institutional fund management, capital raising, and debt capital markets, the firm aims to support clients navigating a wide range of capital sources, from agency and life company lenders to debt funds and structured equity providers.
