**Elk Grove Ice Arena in Suburban Chicago Set to Break Ground This Fall**
The Nicholas Family of Companies is set to break ground this fall on the Elk Grove Ice Arena, a new indoor ice rink located on Meacham Road in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, approximately 25 miles northwest of Chicago.
Designed by ARCON Associates, the 86,261-square-foot facility will feature two rinks and is anticipated to open in fall 2026. In addition to ice sports amenities, the complex will include a restaurant named Hatty’s Icehouse, which will offer rooftop access. The development will replace a Staples office supply store currently on the site.
The Elk Grove Ice Arena becomes the third ice arena project for the Nicholas Family of Companies in the Chicago area within just one year. It follows the Rosemont Ice Arena, a 100,000-square-foot twin-sheet facility slated to open this fall in Rosemont, and the recent acquisition of Glacier Ice Arena, a 63,000-square-foot, two-rink venue in Vernon Hills. The company also owns the Mount Prospect Ice Arena at Nicholas Sportsplex in Mount Prospect.
With a growing portfolio of indoor ice facilities, the Nicholas Family of Companies continues to expand its footprint in the region’s recreation and sports infrastructure.
