El Paso Behavioral Health Hospital Expansion with 80 New Beds Opening Soon

Rio Vista Behavioral Health hospital is set to open its 58,000 square foot expansion next month. The new space, which cost $22.6 million, will add 80 beds to the facility and provide much needed relief for the 150 patients per month that are currently turned away due to a lack of bed space. Rio Vista CEO Maria Alvarez said that the facility usually operates at 90-95% capacity and provides inpatient admission for adults and adolescents as well as STAR Program services specifically designed for military personnel, veterans, and first responders.

The two-story addition with 40 beds includes separate wings dedicated exclusively to adults or adolescents while a one-story outpatient services building adds an additional 14,000 square feet of space. With this expansion comes an increase in employment opportunities; from 100 employees in 2020 up to 250 today with expectations of 50 more jobs created by this project alone according to Alvarez’s statement on the matter.

Owned by Tennessee based Acadia Healthcare since 2019 when it opened near West Towne Marketplace on Northwestern Dr., Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital is poised make a big impact on El Paso’s mental health care landscape once it opens its doors next month!
