**Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School Tops Out in South Bronx**
School leaders, students, former New York Knicks forward John Wallace, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, and members of the project team gathered to celebrate the topping out milestone of the Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School in the South Bronx. The $35 million development marks a historic first in the nation—a purpose-built high school with a curriculum centered on basketball and its expansive range of career pathways.
Designed by ESKW/Architects as the design architect and IMC Architecture as executive architect, the five-story academic facility is expected to open in 2026. The school is located at 647 Elton Avenue in the Mott Haven neighborhood and will operate under a long-term lease agreement with developer Pillar Property Management.
“This event is a celebration of more than three years of hard work by an incredibly talented real estate, design, and construction team,” said Kiumarz Geula, principal at Pillar Property Management.
Once complete, the Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School will serve as a pioneering educational institution, integrating academics and athletics to prepare students for a variety of careers within the global basketball industry.
