"Duluth Playhouse Receives $29M Revamp and Takes Over Sherman Theatre"

The historic NorShor Theatre in Duluth, Minnesota has officially been transferred to the Duluth Playhouse from Sherman Associates. The transfer marks the culmination of a successful partnership between Sherman Associates, the City of Duluth, and other development partners.

The NorShor Theatre is a state-of-the-art community arts center spanning nearly 60,000 square feet. It features a 605-seat main stage theater as well as facilities for performing arts education and production. With its modern amenities and prime location in downtown Duluth, it serves as a hub for regional contemporary art.

In 2017, Sherman completed an impressive $29.5 million renovation of the theatre through collaboration with private investors and public entities such as tax credit allocations and grants from both local organizations like the City of Duluth and nonprofit groups like the Playhouse itself. This unique partnership has resulted in an exceptional cultural asset that will continue to enrich the community for years to come.
