"Downtown Redevelopment: Transwestern Facilitates Lease for DC Office Space"

Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) has successfully negotiated a lease for 16,112 square feet of space at 1401 Massachusetts Avenue NW. This new office building, located on Washington’s Thomas Circle, spans over 52,000 square feet and is owned by Akelius.

The tenant advisory and workplace solutions team at Transwestern represented the lessee in this transaction. Meanwhile, the agency leasing team of Transwestern represented Akelius as the property owner.

Originally built in the 1950s as an annex behind National City Christian Church, this five-story building was recently restored and converted by Akelius into a modern office space with two additional floors. The redevelopment project aimed to preserve its historic exterior while incorporating collaborative amenities that meet today’s tenants’ expectations.

Scott Fetterolf from Transwestern stated that “1401 Mass offers exceptional accessibility along with intentional design and thoughtful amenities.” He also expressed his satisfaction with partnering up with ownership to secure a recognized national anchor tenant for this downtown redevelopment project.
