### DOGE Terminates a Dozen Federal Leases in Oregon
Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has begun listing planned lease terminations, including agency offices in Oregon.
Twelve federal leases in Oregon are set for termination, affecting IRS national offices in Salem, Bend, and Medford, as well as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration office in Salem. This decision is part of the administration’s broader effort to reduce government spending nationwide. According to the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), the plan includes putting 10 federal buildings in Oregon up for sale.
At one point, GSA identified more than 400 buildings across the country as “non-core assets” that could be sold. However, this list was later removed from the agency’s website. DOGE has since indicated that more than 1,000 federally leased or owned properties could face potential downsizing. The department estimates that these measures—including lease terminations, contract cancellations, and workforce reductions—could result in savings of $105 billion.
