Disneyland has announced plans to invest $1.9 billion in a long-term development project presented to the city of Anaheim, according to the Orange County Register. The proposed agreement between Disney and the city, known as DisneylandForward, was revealed during an Anaheim City Council workshop on Tuesday.
The proposal aims to modernize a 1990s plan for Anaheim by allowing for a mix of theme parks, hotels, retail spaces, dining options and entertainment venues on both sides of the Disneyland resort. It includes a commitment from Disney to spend at least $1.9 billion and potentially up to $2.5 billion.
In addition, this comprehensive planning proposal covers four decades of potential development at Disneyland and highlights possible projects inspired by popular franchises such as Black Panther , Coco , Frozen , Zootopia , Tangled , Peter Pan , Toy Story and Tron . These are just some examples that illustrate how current city planning guidelines may be limiting opportunities for new attractions in Anaheim.
The next steps include hearings with the Anaheim Planning Commission in March followed by a vote from the City Council in May regarding this exciting expansion plan for Disneyland’s future growth.
