DFW Emerges as a Major Player in the Life Sciences Industry

Record-High CRE Lending Slump: 8% Decrease in 2022

A recent CBRE study revealed that the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area has become the third largest life sciences market in the United States, with only Nashville and Atlanta growing faster when considering size, institutions, talent and rapid growth. North Texas’ total life sciences labor pool has increased by 17% since 2019 – surpassing national average growth. Research and development employment in DFW has grown 44.5% since 2019 as well.

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in Fort Worth have been instrumental to this success for North Texas region; Chelsea Story from CBRE’s Dallas office commented “Our region attracted $1.6 billion dollars worth of venture capital funding between 2018-2022 for life science facilities – however demand is outpacing supply.”

DFW is quickly becoming a powerful player within the Life Sciences sector!
