"Developers Release Redesign Plans for Villita Assembly Hall"

The iconic Villita Assembly Hall in San Antonio is set to reopen as a performance venue, with plans for subtle changes while preserving its original design by O’Neil Ford. MLSA Ventures, the current owners of the building built in 1958, aim to maintain its unique character while making it more accessible and inviting.

One proposed change is lowering the northeast plaza to river level and adding a new stairway for easier access between the Assembly Building and Arneson River Theater. The southwest side will also feature outdoor dining areas and other gathering spaces.

In addition, exterior modifications are planned including installing more windows for increased natural lighting. These redesign plans will be presented to the Historic and Design Review Committee later this month for conceptual approval.

This latest development brings renewed hope for Villita Assembly Hall’s future as a beloved performance venue in San Antonio. Stay tuned on Connect CREfor updates on this exciting project.
