### Developers Eyeing Hutto for Massive Mixed-Use Project
Capland Development is in the early stages of planning a massive 257-acre project in Hutto, known as Gateway at Hutto. The proposed development will feature:
– **Multifamily Housing**: 29 acres dedicated to approximately 730 units
– **Townhomes**: 13 acres with around 125 units
– **Single-Family Homes**: 68 acres to accommodate 285 residences
– **Mixed-Use Commercial Space**: 58 acres designated for 660,000 square feet of office space, retail, a hotel, a conference center, and more
– **Open Space**: 74 acres, including a central lake
The property is located at East Wilco Highway and County Road 137.
According to the *Austin Business Journal*, developers will need to address infrastructure requirements such as roads, water, and wastewater systems. Rialto Studio Inc. is serving as the project’s land planner. While a timeframe has not yet been set, much will depend on the permitting process.
Hutto, located about 30 miles northeast of Austin, has been experiencing rapid growth, with its population reaching nearly 40,000 residents.
