Developers Consider Partial Redevelopment of Church Street Plaza

A mixed-use development concept is being considered by developers in Evanston, Illinois. This project would potentially include 358 rental apartment units and 2,900 square feet of retail space. The goal is to redevelop a portion of the existing Church Street Plaza retail center, totaling approximately 13,000 square feet.

Church Street Plaza was acquired by an affiliate of GW Properties in 2021 and currently features popular tenants such as an AMC movie theater and Sky Zone trampoline park. According to Mitch Goltz, principal and co-founder of GW Properties, their vision for Church Street Plaza is to contribute to the city’s revitalization efforts by bringing in new retailers and hospitality ventures. They have recently partnered with Luxury Living on another successful mixed-use development called The Saint Grand in Streeterville.

The proposed redevelopment partnership has submitted an initial zoning analysis application for review. In the coming months, meetings will be held with neighbors and members of the Evanston community to gather feedback on this potential project.
