"Developer Trio Plans Huntersville Mixed-Use Project"

A prominent group of developers is seeking approval from a local governing board in Charlotte to move forward with a major zoning request. The partnership between Jamestown, North American Properties, and Nuveen Properties is proposing changes to the current zoning in Huntersville’s Birkdale Village area for a $180 million project. This development would feature a 125-room hotel, 150 apartment units, 122,000 square feet of office space and 26,000 square feet of retail.

The proposed office building will also include ground-floor retail space and will replace the existing Barnes & Noble store at Birkdale Village. Additionally, plans available in town records reveal that there are intentions to construct a new parking deck behind the office building. The multifamily project consisting of 150 units will be located at the current site of Dick’s Sporting Goods and will also have ground-floor retail space included. Across from these developments would be where the hotel is planned to be built.

This trio of developers has their sights set on creating an impressive mixed-use project in Huntersville that could bring significant economic growth to this area.
