Three major developers, Levine Properties, Northwood Ravin, and Horizon Development Properties are collaborating on a $500 million redevelopment project for the former Providence Square shopping center. The expansive 113-acre site is located at the intersections of Old Providence and Providence roads and Sardis Lane. Plans for the development include a total of 2,200 apartments and townhomes, as well as 180,000 square feet of retail space and 45,000 square feet of office space.
According to reports from the Charlotte Business Journal , all three developers own separate parcels within the site that will be developed together. The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County have also offered tax incentives to support this project.
Horizon Development Properties plans to redevelop Gladedale Homes with up to 350 multifamily units along with up to 50 single-family homes. These residences will consist of a mix affordable housing options such as workforce housing in addition market-rate units.
Northwood Ravin’s portion includes plans for approximately650 multifamily units on their allocated20 acres along with80 single-family attached townhomesand15 single-family lots.
