### Last Pig Stand in San Antonio Set for Demolition

The first Pig Stand restaurant opened in Dallas in 1921, and its last remaining location, in San Antonio, is set to be demolished. At its peak, the Pig Stand chain operated up to ten locations, serving approximately 50,000 sandwiches per week.

The building at 1508 Broadway St. will be torn down to make way for a mixed-use development led by GrayStreet and Fulcrum Development. The 15-acre project will include a 211-room hotel under the AC Hotel by Marriott brand. The proposed seven-story hotel will feature 156 parking spaces, a rooftop deck, and a pool. The Merritt hospitality group is reportedly involved in the project.

Plans for the new development, named “BESA District,” have been submitted to the city, though a timeline for construction has not yet been announced. GrayStreet acquired the property in 2023.
