Developer Mill Creek Residential is planning to construct a six-story apartment building at 1319 N.W. 22nd Avenue in Portland. Named Modera Slabtown, the proposed development will feature 125 residential units and include ground-floor parking, according to documents submitted to the city’s planning department.

The Modera Slabtown project will also offer three outdoor common areas and amenity spaces on the ground level. The site is currently occupied by three buildings that house medical offices and underground parking. Mill Creek Residential, which has already developed multiple apartments throughout the Portland metro area, would make this its seventh project in the region.

Still in the early stages of planning, the project is awaiting feedback from a scheduled meeting with the city, after which Mill Creek can move forward with the permit application process.

The proposal comes at a time when new housing development in Portland remains sparse. In response to the city’s housing shortage, Prosper Portland recently approved a loan forgiveness program aimed at supporting office-to-residential conversion projects to boost housing supply.
