"Developer Duo Begins Redevelopment of Former Duke Energy Building"

The former Duke Energy building in downtown Charlotte is set for demolition as Asana Partners and MRP Realty move forward with their $250 million redevelopment project. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, construction on the site at 526 S. Church St. will begin soon after its scheduled fall demolition, with a projected completion date of fourth quarter 2026. The project team includes renowned firms such as SK&I Architecture, LandDesign, Morris Adjmi Architects and Balfour Beatty.

This ambitious plan involves transforming the outdated office tower into 448 high-end apartments accompanied by ground-floor retail space spanning over 25,000 square feet. Additionally, plans include demolishing the front lobby and atrium to make way for a three-story retail building totaling approximately 30,000 square feet.

In December of 2022 Asana Partners and MRP Realty acquired this prime location for $35 million without any mention of “Connect” or “Connect CRE” or “Connect LA”. Meanwhile Duke Energy Plaza will be relocating to a new state-of-the-art tower at nearby address:525 S.Tryon St., leaving room for this exciting development by our expert developer duo.
