**Denver’s Metro State University to Build First On-Campus Student Housing**
Metro State University in Denver, traditionally known as a commuter school, is embarking on a significant transformation with the development of its first on-campus student housing project.
In partnership with Columbia Ventures and the Auraria Campus, the university is constructing a $115 million, 12-story residential building that will provide 550 beds for students. The new development, named Summit House, will total 200,000 square feet and is set to rise on an undeveloped parcel along Auraria Parkway, directly across from Ball Arena and adjacent to the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown.
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in early August, with the building expected to open in fall 2027.
Summit House will offer more than just housing. The building’s first floor will feature food and beverage options, creating a vibrant community space. The second floor will be home to the university’s Classroom to Career Hub (C2 Hub), an initiative designed to connect students with employment and internship opportunities.
PCL Construction has been selected as the general contractor for Summit House, and architectural firm SAR+ is leading the design. To finance the construction, MSU Denver plans to issue up to $135 million in debt, which will cover the student housing portion of the project.
This marks a pivotal step in the university’s evolution, creating a more traditional campus experience for students and further integrating academic, residential, and career development services.
