The City of Denver has committed to financing a transformative redevelopment project north of downtown that includes the construction of a 160-room hotel, a 4,500-seat arena, and a 570-stall equestrian events center. The $800 million investment will be funded through an annual contribution of $23.3 million over the next 35 years.

These enhancements are part of a broader redevelopment of the National Western Center, the long-standing home of the National Western Stock Show. The project aims to revitalize the area into a year-round destination for entertainment, tourism, and agribusiness.

The redevelopment is funded by local tourism taxes approved by voters in 2015. Construction of the equestrian center is expected to be completed by 2028.

The development team comprises key players from both the public and private sectors, including Fengate, Hensel Phelps, Perkins&Will, Oak View Group, McWhinney Real Estate, Sage Hospitality, and 4240 Architecture.

This major investment marks a significant step in Denver’s ongoing efforts to expand its tourism and event-hosting capabilities, while also preserving the cultural heritage of the National Western Stock Show.
