DeKalb County Approves Transit Mixed-Use Plan

DeKalb County Approves Transit Mixed-Use Plan

The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners has approved the rezoning of land surrounding the Indian Creek station, which serves as the final stop on the Blue Line and is located off Durham Road near Interstate 285. This decision will pave way for a dense redevelopment of the 64-acre site.

Included in this plan for Indian Creek is a grocery store spanning 20,000 square feet, a community center also measuring at 20,000 square feet, over 1,600 apartments and approximately 300,000 square feet of office space. Additionally there will be food and beverage options covering around2 ,500 square feet along with four acres dedicated to parks and green spaces. The project also includes plans for a bus transfer facility spanning an area of about45 ,000-square-feet.

This proposal aligns with MARTA’s larger strategy to increase ridership by providing convenient access to transit hubs. Through ground leases with developers,MARTA aims to generate additional revenue while retaining control over what developments take shape around its stations.

MARTA intends on issuing requests for proposals later this year in order to identify potential development partners who can help bring their vision into reality during phase oneof this project.
