**DCHFA Finances New Affordable Housing in Columbia Heights**
The District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) has provided critical financing for the development of Harvard Court Apartments, a new affordable housing project located at 1425 Harvard Street NW in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
DCHFA issued $48.26 million in tax-exempt bonds and underwrote $34.9 million in federal and $6.8 million in DC Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity to support the construction of the $100 million development. Additional funding was secured through a $24.3 million loan from the DC Department of Housing and Community Development’s Housing Production Trust Fund.
The new complex will feature 108 affordable units, offering one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for households earning 30% to 50% of the area median income (AMI).
“Bringing new affordable housing to Columbia Heights is about more than building units—it’s about protecting the diversity and vitality that give this neighborhood its soul,” said Christopher Donald, Executive Director and CEO of DCHFA.
Harvard Court Apartments is being developed by The NHP Foundation, Columbia Heights Village Tenants Association, Inc. and Change All Souls Housing Corp.
