The District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency (DCHFA) has allocated $51.3 million to support an affordable senior housing project in Washington, D.C., named H.R. Crawford Gardens, which is the second of its kind in the district and aims to provide housing for seniors and “grandfamilies” – grandparents raising children. The investment includes $25.9 million in tax-exempt bonds, $21.4 million in federal low-income housing tax credit equity, and $4 million in District LIHTC equity from developers like Manna Corporation and Mutreja Developer located at 737 50th Street NE .
This development will offer 76 units ranging from one to three bedrooms with income limits of 30 – 50 percent area median income including accessible & permanent supportive housing units along with amenities such as a green roof , community room & fitness center . This project provides much needed affordable senior living options for DC residents while also providing a safe space for grandfamilies & formerly homeless tenants alike .
