“Dallas Offers $5.8M Tax Break: Get Your Groceries Here!”

The Dallas City Council has approved a $5.8 million incentive plan to bring a full-service Tom Thumb grocery store to the South Dallas area, an area previously considered a food desert with few or no grocery stores. The grant package will support the development of a 50,000-square-foot supermarket located on the southeast corner of Camp Wisdom and Westmoreland Roads across from the new Palladium Apartments. This store is expected to create at least 90 jobs and offer customers online shopping options with delivery or pick up services available.

In addition, RedBird Mall will benefit from five years of business property tax abatement as well as investments estimated at $12 million for building and site improvements by RedBird Mall itself plus an additional $5 million in upgrades by Tom Thumb when complete. The 107 acre mall property is planned to include restaurants, apartments, office spaces entertainment venues and green space once it’s finished construction phase is completed..
