Dallas Biomedical Engineering Center Opening this Fall with $120M Investment

This fall, a 150,000-square-foot biomedical engineering and sciences building is set to open in the Southwestern Medical District of Dallas. Constructed through a partnership between The University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas Southwestern, this $120 million facility began construction in 2021.

The building will house researchers from both universities with an aim to develop technologies for improved medical care. It will also feature a biodesign center that includes an assembly and design studio, metal fabrication plant as well as 3D printing rooms for creating future medical devices.

UT Dallas President Richard C Benson commented on the project: “Our shared facilities launch takes our already robust partnership between UT Dallas and UT Southwestern another huge step forward; providing students and faculty more opportunities to create transformative technologies that can improve lives”
