Cummins Inc., a leading engine manufacturer, has announced plans to invest $580 million into its Rocky Mount facility in North Carolina. This significant investment will support the company’s commitment to achieving zero carbon emissions across all of its products. The funds will be used for installing new equipment and upgrading the assembly line with state-of-the-art technology for next-generation products.
According to Cummins, this expansion project is expected to create approximately 80 new jobs at the facility which currently employs 2,000 workers. The Rocky Mount plant has been in operation since 1983 and continues to play a crucial role in Cummins’ global operations.
The Nash County Board of Commissioners has approved incentives for this project as well. As part of these incentives, the county will provide 50% of net increase in ad valorem taxes from April 2026 until April 2032 as a result of Cummins’ investment. This amounts up to an estimated $7 million appropriation from the county towards supporting this expansion.
This latest development by Cummins highlights their continued efforts towards innovation and sustainability within their industry while also creating job opportunities within local communities like Rocky Mount.
